Life gives you one chance to get it right. That's it! No second chances, no do-overs, no mulligans, no delete and re-start, it's unfortunate. But what if, just what if we could get a second chance to re-do a certain portion of our life over again? Would you take it, or would you let it pass you by and not take another shot at it?
Well, if the god of second chances came up to me and offered me an opportunity to do over a portion of my life, I think I would take him or her up on it and give it a go. The portion I would like to have a do over of would be the segment in my later teen years, the 16 to 20 years of age portion. Unfortunately life doesn't come with a rule book. I wish it did. We would all have more success. Like any 16 year old, my hormones were in high gear, and I was head over heels in love with this one girl. She was the apple of my eye, the one I dreamed of being with, and spending eternity with. I did everything I could to get her attention and to get her to like me back. Unfortunately for me, she didn't feel the same way.
Well, most red-blooded boys my age would just move on and find someone else. You know the saying, "there's plenty of other fish in the ocean". Not me. I had to be different. I don't know what made me different, but I didn't give up. I had to be a romantic at heart. I was determined to succeed, even though she turned me down time and again. It was unfortunate, but it wasn't meant to be.
If I could do that part of my life over again, I would give up on her and date others. I didn’t. Instead, I wasted four years of my life doting over someone who wouldn’t even give me a chance.
