This is a story that didn’t happen to me directly but was told to me by my friend who said it happened to two friends of theirs (friends of a friend). The story happened in Indonesia, which for the uninformed is historically a very haunted place, with many murders, war atrocities and other evil events having taken place all across the country in the past, which has led to most of the country being haunted.
This story began with the two friends, Alan and Jesse, deciding to stay out in the Indonesian countryside in a place they had never been to before. The name of the place slips my mind right now, but the area had been known to have had many ghost stories come from there.
Alan and Jesse arrived at the hotel together and were waiting in the lobby. The check-in line at the lobby was quite busy and just when they were about to approach the reception, Jesse told Alan that he needed to use the restroom. Alan checked them both in at the reception while Jesse was in the toilet. After checking in Jesse returned from the toilet and they were both able to go into the room they had booked.
The two friends entered the new room to drop off their bags and get comfortable. However, Jesse, who, remember, had gone to the restroom just prior, asked Alan if he could use the toilet again, which made Alan a little confused. Jesse went into the bathroom while Alan waited in the room. After a few minutes, though, he received a phone call. On the phone screen, on the caller ID, he could see it was from Jesse, who was supposed to be in the bathroom.
He picked up the phone and immediately asked Jesse why he was calling from the bathroom because he was just outside there. Jesse, at the other end of the phone, was confused and asked Alan where he had run off to as he was still waiting in the lobby after he had gone to the downstairs restroom earlier while they were waiting in the lobby. Alan went on to explain that he had come up to the hotel room with him already. However, Jesse stressed that he was still in the lobby, and it must have been someone else and was confused about why Alan had suddenly disappeared.
After getting more concerned about what was happening, Alan decided to investigate and get to the bottom of what was happening. After hanging up the phone, Alan approached the bathroom to see who was in the hotel room with him. As the door swung open, the person who he had thought was Jesse was washing his face but suddenly stopped and turned his head. Alan noticed that the unknown person in the bathroom still looked identical to Jesse and was no doubt a doppelganger. The doppelganger then said to Alan, “So, I guess you figured it out.” Realizing that this was someone else and not his friend, Alan let out a scream and ran out of the room and to the lobby where he was reunited with the real Jesse. They checked out of that hotel and stayed at another one instead. To this day Alan doesn’t really know exactly what it was he came across that fateful day.
